Engine dynamometer:
What is an engine dyno ?
Simply put an engine dynamometer measures engine Torque and
Rpm from which it is able to calculate horsepower [(Torque
x Rpm)/5252 = Horsepower] Why have an engine set up/ power tested on a Superflow
dyno ?
- A Superflow dyno provides accurate
horsepower readings at
selected rpms. As a result there are none of the
inherent inaccuracies related to wheel slip and transmission
losses
which you get with rolling roads.
- A Superflow dyno enables
you to get repeatable
results in
a controlled environment.
- A Superflow
dyno has multiple plotting and overlay
functions.
- A Superflow dyno has the ability
to identify small variations in output as
a result of changes to engine settings.
- A Superflow
dyno has the ability to run the engine
continuously whilst mapping.
- A Superflow
dyno provides multi channel outputs with continuous
data logging allowing for early identification
of potential engine problems.
- A Superflow dyno has
a 1,000 bhp/ 10,000 rpm capacity.
- A
Superflow dyno corrects output readings for Air
temperature, Air Pressure and Water Vapour
Pressure.
- A Superflow dyno provides a cooling system heat
exchanger,
which holds an engine within 2 degrees centigrade
of a recommended temperature. This extends
to temperature controlled
intercooling for engines with forced
induction.
Advantages of the Dynoit service:
- Dynoit have a dedicated ‘dyno
cell’ which is
operated in a controlled environment.
- Dynoit use only experienced operators who
are conversant
with Superflow’s Win Dyn software and the
majority of engine management systems.
- Dynoit provide
clients with the ability to set up/powertest
their engines prior to fitment.
- Dynoit are
able to cater for carburettor or Efi engines.
- Dynoit
are able to cater for most engine types/sizes/configurations.
- Dynoit recalibrate their
Superflow prior to the testing of each and every
client’s engine.
- Dynoit
are proud of their fast set up and turn
around times.
As a result Dynoit’s customers find that
their charges
are very competitive.
- Dynoit service both end users and engine builders alike.
OTHER DYNOIT SERVICES:
Race engine building:
Dynoit is a part of HT Racing who specialise in the building
and tuning of the following 4 cylinder Ford engines;
- BD series
- Lotus twin cam
- Zetec E
- Pinto
- X/Flow
- CVH
- RS2000 16v
HT racing are also able to cater for other 4 cylinder
manufacturers engines such as Vauxhall VX, BMW E30 and
Hart 420r.
HT Racing have built and serviced many race winning engines
for over a decade in series such as Vecta, Falken Tyres,
Toyo Tyres, Hot Hatch and the Portugese Classic Rally.
Fabrication:
HT Racing also offer a full in house fabrication service
for your race car with a huge range of machinery including
Mig/Tig welding, all operated by very experienced staff.
This allows HT Racing to do 95% of their services ‘in
house’, resulting in improved quality control and
price competitiveness.
Products:
MOTEC ECU’s:
HT Racing specialises in Motec M4 and M48 managment systems.
HT racing has had great success since moving to these
systems
three years ago.
ELITE Transmissions:
HT Racing helped develop Elite’s new 5/6 speed sequential
in line gearbox and is now their Southern distributor.
These gear boxes are revolutionary, not only offering significant
weight savings over the opposition (5sp weighs only 18.7
KGs) but also a delightful shift mechanism and drop gear
design, all of which comes at a very competitive price.
In addition there is a choice of over 50 gear sets made
from S156 steel. These boxes require a special gear linkage
and propshaft, all of which HT Racing can provide.
Valvoline Oils:
HT racing has used Valvoline oils for many years with great
success. We are able to provide small or large quantities
of many different types of Valvoline oil at competitive
prices.
